Heads Or Tails? I pick Tails!
Posted by: Brix - November 23, 2017, 08:52:26 PM - Replies (2)

The cool wind of autumn was here, causing the leaves to slowly fall in it's wake. Littering the forest floor with it's vast aray of colors. Red,Orange,Yellow and the odd dark purple looking ones danced over the ground as they covered the light brown color that the grass was turning. No more bright green and lively like it once was in the spring and summer time. It'll be another six months or so before life starts to flood back into the forest.

Because of the fallen foliage of the leaves, walking around has become a little louder for most. The crunching and shuffling of leaves easily echoed in the forest. Crunch, Crunch, Crunch sounded as small paws moved about. Paws that were barely the size of an acorn that's been long gone, eaten up by a squirrel getting fat for winter. They carried about a small body, belonging to a young one who seems to be on a mission. Her bright eyes wide with curiousity as her ears swiveled about, trying to pick up any and all sounds that were around her. Although, the main sound she's really able to hear are the rustling of the leaves that her paws were disturbing.

Halting, the young pup halted in her grand adventure as something in front of her caught her attention. Her beight blue eyes stared at the small pile for a moment, not really sure what to think of it. Soft looking things that seemed to be well taken care of were just resting in a pile. Looking like they were waiting for someone to go through them and curl up in for a nice little nap. The soft fur, wrapping around one like a mothers warmth on a cool night. Bringing about a sense of familiarity to the young pup.

Slowly, the dark furred girl hunched down to the ground, as she slowly slunk towards the pile. Her nose twitched as she tried to pick up the smell of what the pile could be, but there were just to many. The only thing that she could figure out, was that the scents were from her kind. Wolves.
As the young beauty got to the pile, after playing her little sneaking game, she stood up and looked at the pile. Her paw reached out grabbing one of the things and holding it up. Bright blue eyes widened as they realized it was a tail. This was a pile of tails, severed from their owners and collected in a pile by someone who seemed to be using them as trophies.

"This is weird." The young pup mumbled quietly to herself as she looked at the tail in her grip and then towards the pile. Her eyes looked warily back towards the pile, a feeling of unease starting to fill her. This was feeling like a bad idea, being around someones soft of treasure and all.
Then, the young pup jumped as the sound of a breaking twig caught her attention. The young girl, Lily looked around herself as she tried to figure out where it was coming from. In a panic, the young girl grabbed the tail in her grip with her teeth and made a mad dash away from the pile of severed tails, not wanting to be caught by the creature that seemed to inflicting such trauma to others.

The queen was agitated and dour. She'd been avoiding Cockatrice, avoiding Kashmir, and Ghost, mostly to spare them her irritability. But she also hadn't gone to them because the pain in her hip had made walking a nightmare. Usually, it only ached slightly in the rain and cold, but now it hurt all the time, even in the warmth of midday, and even when she stayed off of it. She'd grown somehow restless and listless at the same time.

Now, she lay on her back in a clearing near her den, scowling at the trees and their gently falling leaves. Her mind rolled over and over the events of her years, the wars and wolves come and gone. Politics of course, weighed on her - Tortuga's recent silence, Gemini's olive branch. Nardir of course remained a staunch ally - she mused that diplomats should be sent there soon, and perhaps she could go herself - but a a twang of pain in her hip made her reconsider. It was odd for this old wound to act up so much.

She sighed, and adjusted her position on her back. She likely looked a bit foolish like this, though finding a comfortable position would at this point be worth whatever loss of dignity she might suffer. She looked like a cat lazing in a sunbeam, more than a noble queen, but so be it. It was unlikely that anyone would bother her this close to her den, anyway, unless it was another alpha. While Haven was fond of the other leaders, she had never been terribly close to any of them, and so she doubted they'd make house calls.

This general sense of discomfort, it would be gone in a day or two, she told herself. Just a temporary ache.

@Frost I hope it's okay I moved this over from the old forum, I still really wanna do this! If you don't want to reply it's okay you can just let me know

Quote:The land was full of rivers and Iris enjoyed them, she would dip her paws in the cool water to feel better relaxed when it was too hot, she hung around the rivers like bees to flowers and she was standing with just her paws in a river, making light splashes with her front paws and giggling to herself. She soon walked around the edge of the water, trying pretty hard to not get too wet. She didn’t feel like grooming herself too much from a wet fur and kept just her paws in there and sighed happily. The sun has been baking for days, it was good to cool off after days like this.

It was while she was in the midst of this that she noticed something in the corner of her eye and looked up. She thought at first it was the queen, the orange/beige cream colors were close to identical, but upon looking up she saw it was a much larger male with streaks of brown in his fur and she gasped loudly (thank god he wasn’t close enough to hear), that was the prince! She had heard stories of him and his nobility in action and her small tail immediately wagged as she jumped out of the river.

”Prince Zaniah!? Prince!” She followed him until he would stop and turn to look at her and once he did she would wag her tail wildly and offer a charming smile in return to whatever look he might be giving. ”Oh prince Zaniah! What an honor to meet you like this, I’ve heard stories of your noble heart.” She smiled and her tail was still wagging.

Whatever or not she was making the prince uncomfortable was lost on her, she was too deep in her own thoughts and fantasies. She had never imagined she would get to meet the prince! She felt so lucky and could just squeal like a fangirl meeting her idol, but she kept it at a charmer’s smile and then realized she hadn’t properly introduced herself. ”How embarrassing! I forgot to introduce myself! I am Iris.” She made a proper curtsy, for this was the prince after all! Couldn’t slack on manners and courtesy now could she? She was eager to get talking to him and get to know him, she could hardly contain it.

@Puffin I hope it's okay I moved this over from the old forum?

Quote:The moon was beaming bright tonight, it was full and gleaming white like a giant pearl in the sky, and one wolf in particularly was very happy with this. She adore the moon and its entire glory, she worshipped it to its fullest. She had left her den because the sky had been cloud free and she knew it was full moon, the moon was the entire reason she was up and about.

She collected flowers, big and small in scarlet and bright colors, yellow like the sun and blue like the sky on bright mornings. She had a plan for all of them as she collected them into a neat line in colors and hummed lowly to herself a soothing song of the past, a past enjoyed in warmth of family and the bond of family.

Beside collecting flowers in the fields around her she had collected twigs and small branches of a tree, she didn’t know its name but she knew it was bendy and flexible and it would be the crown of her work. She began her work on intertwining each branch and stick into each other and slowly bend it each time she did, make a circular crown. She kept stopping her work to measure it on her head, making sure it fit around her ears without falling down.

Once it was sturdy and the perfect size she began inserting the flowers. She had carefully chosen colors that complimented each other and carefully selected how each flower would be arranged. She was whispering a song to herself as she worked in the moonlight and worked throughout most of the night. She was surrounded by wildflowers that she picked from when she changed her mind on the color blue, instead it became a crown of red, yellow and white. She inserted plants of different kinds to compliment the flowers.

The night was her time, it was her comfort and her space for her work and tonight she needed the presence of the moon. It had been 6 months since the passing of her parents tonight. She had gone through the day with the motions, followed the flow and thought of everything but it. She worked tirelessly for the crown, a crown of beauty. It wasn’t until she finished it that she allowed her feelings to wallow over her like a wave and she sobbed only once, swiped the possible tears away and looked to the moon.

She still had one mother in the sky, one guidance and one figure of love. She knew what to do with the crown now.

@Uri as promised!

[quote author=✧Iris✧ link=topic=128089.msg1059921#msg1059921 date=1499349379]
The moon worshipper was out in the sun and actually enjoying her time there. Which was sort of a given Iris was a sociable creature who certainly enjoyed others company, though mostly when she was the center of their attention. Maybe that’s why she liked private conversations where others only could keep their attention to her? She wasn’t some desperate teen trying everything to get the attention of adults, but she did definitely have her sense of drama when she needed it.

And today she needed it! She had ventured around the land to enjoy the warm summer and get some creative ideas for something to draw as practice, but she had ventured way too close to the apiary and screamed like a little schoolgirl when bees got too close. She knew better than to swat at bees, but she accidentally did it per reflex and what do you know she got stung. Her paw hurt pretty badly now and was swollen as she limped as far as away as possible from that place.

The lakes were the best places in Nardir and it was exactly where she found herself again and dipped her hurting paw into the water to cool it off. She felt a tingling in her body and couldn’t say she had tried that before, actually it was the first time she had been stung in her life as she really had avoided those little creatures as a child. What was happening?

She felt dizzy and decided it was best to lay down a little and kept her paw in the water as she winced in self pity. This was truly uncomfortable! What bothersome little creatures. ”Great, what else is gonna go wrong today!” The drama queen announced out loud, mostly to herself. She hated being out of commission and she was really starting to feel ill. ”Urgh..” She was slowly coming to the conclusion that this couldn’t be normal. She raised her head to look for someone but it got heavy and dizzy. ”Hey? Hello? Anyone?” She tried calling for assistance instead and put her head back down and whimpered. ”Lady in pain over here.” She might be dying here, but she was still a little lady!

The king moved lazily through the midday heat - summer always seemed to slow down everything around the Nardir land. While sometimes the heat could cause tensions to rise and hot heads to get hotter, sometimes it made the bigger wolves, like himself, too damn hot too deal with anything. Especially those of his family, with their thick coats that were made for lands much colder than here. Sometimes, in days like today, he missed the mountains.

There was a lot going on that many didn't see if they didn't look closely enough. Like here, there was an apiary being looked after by the pack's hardworking wolves. Bees and their honey were a delightful treat and were also incredible helps to the pack's Halos. The healers could make medical bandages of a sort with honey and use it as ointments on burnt pawpads and the like. It even could be used on wounds, he imagined, though he'd never had the slightest interest in taking part in the healing arts beyond the basics that he and his fellows had to learn in the Old Country. As he wandered, he swore he heard something like a scream of pain, which caused him to perk his ears in interest - but then there was silence, so he carried on.

Towards the lakes the king went.

”Great, what else is gonna go wrong today!”

Oh? The voice sounded familiar and he realized that it was the same scream that he'd heard before, but with obvious differences such as volume and the fact that now there were words. He strode towards the stranger as she lay by the shore, one leg outstretched in the water. She groaned to herself, barely audible as he approached and he noticed her head raise for a moment before she lowered her head.

"Hey? Hello? Anyone? Lady in pain over here."

He grunted a greeting of "Hail," heavy with his inborn accent, then turned his gaze on her eyes, "You hurt yoursef..?" Julek stopped his approach to sit at the water's shore a half dozen feet from the lass, inspecting her from his higher and slightly distant vantage point. "You vere the scream, yes?" He glanced at the direction he'd thought the scream'd come from... ah, that would make sense. He looked at her once more. "Bees?"

[OOC: Making it so Iris knows who the king is because she was born in Nardir, hope that’s okay]

She groaned dramatically and was feeling very dizzy and tired still, she wondered if the bees had tried to kill her or something, she could hardly feel much in her leg, it was just throbbing, red and had several swollen spots that were getting so large she could spot them under her fur. She squinted her eyes at them, not realizing the water made them appear much larger than they were, and just as she was sitting there by herself, feeling really sorry about dying there on the shore all lone she heard a voice that nearly made her jump out of her skin.

"Hail," She turned annoyed to the voice. Hail!? Really? Did they have no sense of urgency here? She was dying and in pain she couldn’t just. Hail them and have a nice conversation on her deathbed. But as soon as she turned her head and saw the enormous figure standing above her she gasped in surprised. ”King Julek! u-uh! H-hail!” She wasn’t normally a stammering fool, but faced with the handsome king she blushed slightly under her fur and felt a little coy and honored.

Granted she had never spoken to him before, but being born in Nardir meant that she had seen him and the queen several times before in her short lifetime, each time the little loyal royalist had followed them with her eyes eagerly. The king was hard to miss, huge, larger than anyone she had met so far, dark and white and with a dashing scar across his face. She loved the royal couple to death and was really into them, they were a romantic relationship, something she aspired to and wanted to have as well. She admired them both greatly so being here in the king’s presence? SQUEAAAAAL!

"You hurt yoursef..?" Oh noo, why did she have to meet him at a time like this? She blushed again and tried to excuse it ”Oh uhm yes, nothing too bad I am sure!” She said with a throbbing leg and dizzy head.

"You vere the scream, yes?" Boogers. ”Yes.. One of my less glorious moments I am afraid.” What did you say to a king? More specifically what did you say to a king after having made a complete fool out of yourself? ”Bees?” Well she couldn’t hide that too well. She lifted her leg out of the water to show him the several stings across her leg and gave a shy smile. ”You got me.” Come one say something, anything to the king. This doesn’t happen every day you little fool!

”I am a huge fan.” Wait, no not that! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

He needed change. The darkness of his cell as a slave was not what he was made for, he wanted to be a part of the people, the land and save it from itself, he needed to protect them all, the children of the corrupted landmasses were within his reach and he wanted to do what he could for them, reach out and help them - even if turned away. He partially knew how this worked.

Priests and priestess were his ticket out of slavery they were the ones who turned heathens to actual members, and Leocor was no heathen. He had simply gotten in the way of the white seour, a day he regretted terribly, but there was nothing to be done about it, it was too late to turn back time and even if he could he wouldn't have changed. It was his bidding to protect the children from her wrath and taking the blame instead of them, the most horrifying part being how she manipulated the children, that was almost a crime. God or not.

He worried about the way things were turning out in this pack, for he had never seen anything like it. He had been accepted on the premise that he was loyal and devote to his country and he was! But seeing children manipulated to doing cruel things in order to appear "strong" was more than he could take in his noble heart. That wasn't what he signed up for, that wasn't what he believed in and he could hardly think of the horrid things the white seour was teaching these children. He had left his cell and scurried around the edge of the slave area, wandering - not lost, but searching.

"Hello?" His calling was low, calm and nothing like the ordinary slave. His fur still white and beaming, groomed and kept he was out of place of the rest, devote and in order unlike the remains. He didn't belong as a slave, he belonged out there, protecting and serving and he needed a priest to prove that, he needed to devote himself to one and show that he was in good faith. In another life, another time he could have been the seed in spring, the beginning of new and somewhere else he would have been a respected member of the pack - loved even.

But instead his days were in Oukoku-kai - a land of gods.

He sat at the mouth of a den, the recent windy gusts absent this day.

Over all the feeling was a dead one. He heard little to no activity in the Valley, the elements were still and quiet, he hadn't spoken to anyone all day. He stared blankly at the dark opening and the empty interior, been staring actually. He'd been there most of the day, the full weight of how quiet and how lonely he was while everyone was away fighting for their lives was crushing his heart. He had no idea he'd been there for so long, he had little thought at all aside from the deafening silence that surrounded the place he'd claimed for his family. The sounds of little pups shouting and playing, the contented huffs of a beautiful and strong willed mate.

Silence.

Like a grave.

He'd spent maybe two nights here after the others had left but the lack of bodies to share in their warmth, the overly stillness of the empty den. It chilled his bones and so he couldn't stand it. He felt more comfort laying under the stars, howling at the moon in hopes that they'd return his sorrowful call in their far away place. The only calls were others missing their families or their friends...the Goddesses. He'd tried every night though, to stay in the den but soon it became too hard to even enter the thing, like now. Standing outside like he was some stranger to his own house. He felt vile and weak but he knew this feeling couldn't be shaken.

He blinked finally, his eyes dry and bloodshot from staring so long. His belly roared at him but he ignored it, he didn't feel hungry even if his body knew he was. He wondered if they had eaten today, if they were healthy. He honestly wondered if they were even alive but every time that thought touched his mind, he recoiled form it like a viper. Still, he hadn't moved, he'd likely stay like this until the sun went down.

If he was lucky, his body would do him a favor and he'd collapse from exhaustion and maybe get a wink of sleep.

Probably not...

  Streets of Gold [Visit| Azalea/Kunzite]
Posted by: Corona - November 22, 2017, 11:35:02 PM - Replies (6)

You're gonna see how the best survive
We make an art out of staying alive
If you do just as you're told
These are streets of gold

With Inaria behind them, the trio set off again in their search for Hyperion (and extension, Aela). There was no sign of either one wherever they went: through gorges, forests, flats, the land was barren of the faces they wished to see the most. It was disheartening, but they were the best Gemini had to offer! Plus, Hyperion was a knight, which meant they were… uh, knightlings! Baby knights! Didn’t matter, they were good and they’d conquer the bad and bring Hyperion home!

With that in mind, Corona led them ever forward. His tails swept behind him as he hummed a wordless tune, floppy ears swishing atop his head. The bright colors on his dark coat flashed and dimmed as the wind ran through his fur, the thicker mane around his throat swaying lazily over his shoulders. He perked his ears up and looked over his shoulder. Yep! Right behind him. Kunzite and Azalea matched: they both looked sad! He frowned, and trotted back to them.

“Kun-Kun, Lee-Lee, s’okay!” He reassured them as he stood before them, his tails wagging. “Gon fin’ ‘Peon n’ La-La! Pomiss!” Corona drew his lips back in a wide smile. “S’okay, s’okay!” He nuzzled them both. “‘Rona know.” He nodded his head quickly, and before they could react he pressed kisses to their brows. “C’mon! S’go, s’go!” He barked, those tails a blur behind him as he turned about and loped ahead. His paws were heavy against the ground, the thud-thud-thud of his approach possibly the loudest thing since roosters figured out to scream at the sun.

Hm? He stopped after a minute. What was…? A bridge! Oh, that’s cool! The young hellion practically vibrated in place as he made quite a ruckus: running about, dropping into playbows and barking up a storm. “KUN-KUN! LEE-LEE! WOOK, WOOK!” He hollered at his companions as he pranced about. He remembered something though in his excited dance, and basically threw his face at the ground. Corona sniffed around, his tails high in the air and still wagging, and yes! Aha! This was another Inaria! Inaria By the Sea! Wow that was a mouthful. What a horrible name! Hopefully it wasn’t something too difficult for him to say (poor kid).

Just outside the border, Corona threw his head back three times and let out a series of low, throaty sounding howls. He waited, and when the first person arrived he dropped into another bow. His tails wagged until they were a blur of colors, and then he sprang back up to his feet. He chuffed, “‘Rona me! ‘Rona me! ‘Peon? ‘PEEEEOOOOOON!” He called for his brother from across the border (his ears properly scolded by Azalea for how he simply brushed past Inaria’s scent markings) and then threw his head back again in another one of those baritone howls.

I’m here, I’m here!

Ev'ry boulevard is a miracle mile
You'll take the town and you'll take it with style
If you play it brave and bold
These are streets of gold

Thetis spends so much time following people around, Her mistress, her wayward children, her mothers sometimes even. But, during the past few days she had made a point to try to be where her brother was, she never hid from him, but never spoke a word either. It wasn’t time for that yet. She knew little of him other than the sin he had been born out of. She wasn’t all that interested in him, he didn’t offer anything to her Rosa, or too her way of life.

He wasn’t a beneficial stepping stone or a particularly interesting plaything. But still, she had a duty to do, it was time that he was no longer a child, time he did something for them.

She approaches him as he overlooks the slaves. “Brother” she would call. “What are you looking at?” she smiles a bit, “Pathetic, aren’t they, its…unfortunate that they don’t accept our religion.” She would shake her head, lightly, hair that covered her empty, ruined eye pushed to the side, a white rose was tied around it, a makeshift eyepatch hiding the spot.

“Tell me” she would say, after a few moments, “Have you ever been in love” She thinks of Mistress Gigantea, her beautiful forumShe had to question him of course, she wanted to know who he was and what he stood for, was he compassionate, and gentle. Harsh and Cruel. Fierce and Fiery. She wasn’t sure.

Love was one of the only things she understood enough to judge someone by. The sun was lowering in the sky, casting long shadows over the valley, dramatic light hitting them. “Your old enough now, to join the valley.” She would say after a few moments of letting him answer. “As an adult.” She was an unfair woman, brooding and jealous. She could be terrible at times. He was nothing to her though, not in that way. “Tell me Crux, what do you want to do, for this valley.” She thinks of herself, her realization of how wonderful serving the White Rosa was, how all her hopes and dreams were answered.

Did he know he was a heathen? Would he leave one day too. “You know, Two of our brothers ran away, to the outside, what do you think about that?” Her look is serious as she stands beside him before stepping forward. “Let’s walk and look at the slaves.” She would order, curious at how he reacted.

She needed to know things first, before she truly tested him.

She had one last final question, “Is there anything you’re afraid of” she thinks of her orphans, of Anamelech leaving her, she thinks of the war an Ezekiel leaving, and remembers that at night sometimes she thinks she would have been happier if she left. They all had fears.

the banshee & bondless
"Fear and greed are potent motivators. When both forces push in the same direction, virtually no (human) being can resist."
-Andrew Weil

So this was the Valley of the little White Rose. Interesting name, or lack thereof, Gigantea, Scheherazade, titles from her understanding. Never the less, this red and gray girl was interesting, the proof in the pudding of what happens when children are given more power than they deserve. Not that Carissi was complaining, the White was interesting, her mannerisms, her speech, the Banshee sought to watch the creature progress. To tag along for what would be a very interesting amusement park ride in the scorching tar-filled hell that was Oukoku-Kai. What had convinced her to sell her soul to the devil was beyond her, as she was convinced it was not just Anamelech's appearance. The Bacchus woman might appreciate a pretty piece of tail, but she was well skilled in turning and walking away as well. This Valley intrigued her, it's people intrigued her, the blasphemous lie of a religion the ragdoll Rose reveled in... intrigued her

Although the derelict woman was not easily convinced of spirits and afterlifes, she figured it would at least be an amusing passtime to watch the believers grovel at the paws of a merciless self-proclaimed triumvirate of deities. Of course, this meant she too had to grovel at their paws. Why not? Saccharine smiles were a specialty skill; it hid her forked tongue and masked over her thoughts of heathenism. Carissi saw it as a game, after all she was nothing more than a naughty spoiled child herself. The red and gray brute of a woman loved games. And she loved winning, the sweet taste of someone else's misery rolling around on her taste buds. The question would be whether she would be a good enough player? This was not the neutrals, she was not a free woman anymore, the game she was playing had preset rules that she wasn't aware of yet.

What an underdog story.

The dingy beast had brought her mother with her, or at least the remains of her mother's head. Perhaps so Carissi could pick her brain from time to time? Pearly white fangs poked out in a devious smile as she considered the lovely pun she'd concocted while staring into the empty eye sockets of the skull. The eyes were gone from this skull into Carissi, that same blue, same glimmer of pride and devious nature; and a tickling of neuroticism. Hidden well but it still remained, the need to win and do better ate at her soul more than any Valley of cultists ever could. Heavy paw brushed over the more delicate skull, Mother had been a much softer shaped wolf than she, though who could blame her when they saw her daddy-dearest. Teeth clicked dully, still settling in to this warm, salty hell. Pungent smell of tar wafted into her makeshift living quarters and she wrinkled her nose at it for a moment. Good place to burn heathens and the blasphemous. It was a good reminder that if she didn't play this game well, she'd be tasting the bitter taste of loss-- as tar filled her lungs.

It was time to go out and make friends, so to speak. A newcomer in the valley, fresh blood with a couple ugly scars and a strange figure. Her preparation and thankfully not made her weary; tutorial time was over, the game was starting and she picked up the figurative controller. A raspy kiss goodbye to the skull of Whiteraine before turning to move towards the innards of the Valley. What sort of spectacles and circus acts would she find in this Valley of the God's people? What would they find in her? Carolina blue eyes would sweep up towards the towering cliffs on one side, curious about them. What would she learn today?
