Centurion Handbook
This Handbook encompasses all military ranks. Your duties are as follows:
---
Acceptances This can be done through any means, like proving their worth in a fight, a race, or knowledge of medicinal plants. Acceptances are every ranked members responsibility, so that one rank is not bogged down by an influx of newcomers. All those who are unranked and newly accepted must wear a white scarf upon their shoulders. Trespassers Anyone who crosses the threshhold of spears that surrounds the border of the island without a scarf is to be apprehended, no exceptions. Visitors If the leader of another pack, or their embassadors are found to be at the border, they are to be given purple scarves. Help is to be called, preferably the Legatus or Dux, so that they may be graciously escorted into Vexillum. Refugees If an escapee from another pack manages to cross the strait and wishes to claim asylum within Vexillum, you are to call the Pontifex Maximus, and allow them to handle the case. A vote may be held to determine this wolf's fate. --- Other Duties
Fights When a fight breaks out, your duty is not to stop them, but to keep others who may get swept in, back and away. You are to work with the Pontiffs to ensure public safety until the fight stops, or until someone of a higher rank or status steps in. Raids If the pack is raided, both Centurions and Medicus are to be first responders, taking care of casualties and apprehending suspects. |

Pontiff Handbook
This encompasses all civic ranks. Your duties are as follows:
---
Acceptances
This can be done through any means, like winning a race, proving their knowledge of medicinal plants, joining a party in a hunt, or divining through an animals entrails. Acceptances are every ranked members responsibility, so that one rank is not bogged down by an influx of newcomers. All those who are unranked and newly accepted must wear a white scarf upon their shoulders. Medicine Pontiffs must know the plants on the island very well, their names and uses, as well as how to best apply them to a wound, or in pain relief, or any other possible uses. Divination All Pontiffs must know of various means of divination, either through using the stars, or the entrails of an animal, and should have a base knowledge of how to read these signs. Haruspex however, specialize in this aspect, and work together with the Pontiffs directly to determine the best course of action if things seem grim. Tutoring All Pontiffs must do their part in educating Infantia of Vexillum's culture, and readying them for when they finally mature into Plebians, and are expected to prove themselves. They often take one apprentice, and teach that apprentice all about the various ranks and responsibilities they will one day have. Hunting All Pontiffs are expected to do their part in taking down large prey for the pack in teams, often including their apprentices. No one should go hungry. Civil Disputes These should be taken to a Pontiff, as they are trained to see both sides of the situation and help both parties work out a middle ground. If no middle ground can be worked out, the Pontiff may suggest other means of solving the problem, via Pontifex intervention, or some other means. Clothiers Pontiffs are expected to take good care of the cloth they find strewn about the pack lands, and undergo a process of washing them and ensuring they smell nice and up to an acceptable standard, most importantly before big events, but also to have them ready for newcomers. Citizens of the pack may also take their cloths to Pontiffs and have them washed, while they wear a temporary replacement for the time being. |
