BORING!

This place was boring! Weeks of staying within Geminis borders had left the silver pup with nothing to show, much less remember, for all his time shared with the strange pack. Time which he mainly spent recovering within the dark confines of the den; which had been lent to them by the packs 'King'? A title that was familiar to Reath, but carried by a gender who should not have held it, as his mother often told him stories to pass time and enthrall him with tales of grand adventures and Nobel heroes. So he had taken to calling her 'Queen' in his mind as to correct the wrong that unsettled the pup. Speaking of unsettled. The Queens attitude was also a cause of concern for the small dire for it did not suit one of such high standing; if anything they were more kin to a jester than a ruler. Then again the only person who seemed 'normal' here was the healer lady. What was her name? Oh! Harriette! She was nice to Reath and spoke sense that the pup was capable of grasping but she preferred to share her time with Sveyn, alone, which he had been more than happy to accept in the form of offers such as 'tours around Gemini'; leaving Reath to war with his newfound abandonment. Sure he had ventured out in search of his own adventure, and he had met a few pups, but nothing ever came of it. He was a stranger in a land that didn't seem to want anything to do with him. They put him aside in this dark hole called 'home' and carried on with their business ignoring the 'tag along' in favor of keeping company with other adults...Reath hated that he couldn't find it in himself to like the pack but his mind had been made up.

 Gemini sucked.

So today the pup had decided that he would venture even further into Gemini. Hoping to find the gem that would have made all his pain worthwhile. His search started along the cold banks of the beach. Tiny paws carried the pup across its dark sands as his blue eyes scanned the distant waves for something, anything, interesting for him to explore. A ship wreck, cave or strange beast the dire was ready for it all.

Time quickly passed as the silver child investigated  every nook and cranny for his prize. He looked under sticks, in every shell he found, and in every pool of water that caught his attention. Nothing. He was half tempted to go back to his cage and wait for Sveyn to return but he did not want to share space with the white guardian yet. In his minds eye Reath could see the snowy white beast squeeze through the entrance, carrying the combined scents of Harriette and their recent exploration, asking how his day had been and how his paws felt. His answer was always 'fine' but his heart hurt. It was something the pup had noticed about Sveyn...he never asked about feelings. Like when he had found the pup starving and cold in the neutral forest. He did not ask Reath how he had been feeling, not once during their encounter, he instead spoke of Bacchus and how he would like to take Reath threre with him; he had offered him a home. Yet here they were. The pups injuries had fully healed but Sveyn was reluctant to begin the last leg of their journey 'home'. Reath highly doubted that Sveyn even thought of it as home anymore.  Which worried him deeply. If Sveyn decided that he didn't want to return to Bacchus....what would happen to Reath? How many miles had the child followed obediently and how many orders had he carried out without complaint. Was he going to be pushed aside for his newfound interest in Gemini, Harriette, and the sweet promises he was sure that they had made.

It wasn't fair.

A broken sob escaped him as his buried emotions swelled over him. He didn't bother to try and hide his grief; it was far too much for him to handle. So the silver pup sat motionless in the cold breeze, listening to the churning of the ocean, and let the tears flow from  his eyes. He had not cried like this since his parents...his parents...he missed them. He wanted them back. With the drive for adventure lost the small child curled up upon the black sand and cried for the loving warmth that could no longer be had.
