With his leg slowly regaining mobility, Dominix was eager to stretch. He assumed that a small stroll wouldn’t hurt things too much, but considering his past experience with accidentally overexerting himself, it was likely Siloh would appear out of nowhere and smack him upside the head and give him another lecture. He would deserve it, of course, but the little spitfire was all but chewing his paws off in boredom. Just a short walk to the woods and back, that was it!
Dominix moved slowly, gingerly this time around. No reason to rush things when he wanted to breathe some fresh air. He sucked in a breath of briny air and let the grass lick his toes as he walked, a deep sigh of contentment finally released from him lungs. Life was strangely good at the moment, but he wondered.. where were frick and Yilo? What was that raven doing? Free eyes gazed out across the forest, watching the leaves sway with a thin smile. Somewhere out there his friends and family thought he was a worthless excuse of breath, and there he was standing by the forest with the knowledge he wasn’t just alive, he was going to thrive. It was a clear night on the forest. Waves of wind rolled in gently onto the soil, he only stirred when the breeze made itself known, pushing the leaves further in, only to subside once again. It was cooler here, near the middle of the forest . But as a whole, it was warmer this night than it had been for a while. The disturbance was not felt by the environment. But it erupted from his chest. A panic - a primal fear. Outwardly, he stood still. His head hung low, facing the fields at the edge of the meadow. He stood close enough to the meadow line that his paws were submerged in dried grass. Green eyes darted, not willing to focus on any one thing. The ambience of the woods, the crickets and breeze was rhythmic, only to be replaced by whispers. |
