What had been a dry, sunny day had suddenly and without warning darkened and the brush about Amalthea's paws began to whip back and forth across her fur. A soft humming noise escaped her as her gaze turned toward the blackening skies with its occasional flashes of light and with an even quieter sigh rise and begin to slowly make her way back across the lowlands and to hopefully better weather. There was as of yet no rush to her movements; Thea was already certain she couldn't beat the storm and wasn't willing to expend unnecessary energy trying it.
On any other day she'd perhaps get a bit wet and that would be the end of it, but today...Today was going to turn out to be something else entirely. The flashes that had simply been streaking their way across the sky began to head downward toward the glass fields leaving her thus far unconcerned (they'd all seen such things happen before, or at least she had anyway). But still, the girl would quicken her steps just that little bit more as her ears flickered back from the boom of nearby thunder. Off in the distance a figure would catch her attention and Amalthea would hustle her way toward them with a pleasant enough, if somewhat forced sounding call of, "Wasn't expecting this, how 'bout you?" Awkward...Not that there was going to be much time to dwell on it though, not when another strike would land and this time just far enough from the glass to startle her into a full body twitch as she jerked around as though to get a better look at it. For a few brief moments everything was normal enough and then, then the very first wisps of smoke began to curl from the brush and her eyes would widen in what in other circumstances might've been a comedic expression but the realization of what might actually be happening was made that the furthest thing from her mind. "That's," a pause then, "that's not good..." |

A roll of her shoulders would come as the first reply although it was soon to be followed by, "No idea." Probably not far enough for Amalthea's taste though. Another shrug and a brief dip of her head would come this time, "Hopefully far enough I can make it home before it starts to pour." Although with the way today was starting to go she was beginning to have her doubts about actually making it back before the rain hit and she turned into a soaked mess. How fun!
Of course that was soon to be the absolutely least of her problems, of anyone's really, what with the terrible thing that was unfolding right in front of them. And Amalthea would stare blankly, almost uncomprehendingly, at the events unfolding way too close for comfort for first one beat then another before being able to gather her wits enough to heartily agree with a hard nod of her head, "Definitely..." And yet, for some reason she held back momentarily to watch as the smoke became flames that soon started race out in all directions. Yeah, definitely time to go now because she wasn't going out that way thank you very much. With a start she would finally turn and begin to make a run for...anywhere her new companion might be headed, or at the very least somewhere away from any immediate flames. "Do you think we even have a chance of outrunning it?" Not that she wasn't willing to try, but the girl had her doubts that without getting lucky the fire would catch up at some point due to either its sheer nature or their own fatigue. A snarl was directed toward the sky then as though she were demanding it to finally rain and help get them out of this situation (see if she went on a random walk out there again...), but for the time being at least her demands seemed to go unanswered. |

"No idea. Hopefully far enough I can make it home before it starts to pour." They would have little time to ponder over the weather, especially when it decided to interrupt the chat with a lightning strike. The two girls made a quick mental sync, and then they were off. Terra took the lead, racing back towards the wall. All things considered, a blockade of stone sounded like a pretty good idea right about now. She glanced to one side, seeing her compatriot coming up along her flank. "Do you think we even have a chance of outrunning it?" Terra flung her head up. craning her neck for a moment to look behind them. The sky was dark and ominous, but not yet ready to release the torrent that would extinguish the flames. Embers were quickly devouring the dry grass, and she could see the area of effect that was expanding from the strike. The firey girl whipped her head back to face forward. "Hope so..." she replied, her vocal cadence staccato as she tried to save breath. "Also hope... it rains... soon." she said bumpily as she ran. |
