Now this, this was a boy with a plan. Genim’s day had started out early what with having to find the biggest and most perfect of leaves for his super awesome project idea. You see, he had it all planned out in his head and was totally ready to get things together and going - Nim was going to make a family picture. It probably (definitely) wouldn't be easy, and it would be the most ambitious thing he'd ever attempted in his short life what with having thus far kept his scribbles to dirt and his own fur, but he was ready for it! And, the boy would all but giggle happily to himself, he bet his momma would love it too.
Where was he again? Oh, right, leaves! Big leaves, cool leaves, all the leaves! Little paws would move quickly, if not a little clumsily, with purpose as Genim started his search for supplies all kinds of excited about his totally brilliant idea. With a sudden random thought and a small gasp the boy would slide to a stop, what if he could do something like for other people too?! Quickly enough he'd shake away the thought though, it was probably better to start with one plan at a time right? (Oh, but the seed was planted now and eventually it would grow...) It wasn't very hard at all to find leaves, but the perfect ones? That was proving a bit harder for the child. It had to be big enough to fit everyone on after all, and not to slippery otherwise everything might just go sliding off. But Genim was stubborn, and so very determined that somewhere around there he was going to find what he wanted even if he had to look at every single tree in the land. Yes, he would bob his head determinedly, he'd look at every single leaf if it came down to it just you wait. Just...he kind of wanted to get to the really fun parts now and his paws were starting to get tired, and he was getting tired, and with a huff and a flop the boy would land in a discarded pile and roll onto his back to start up into the canopy. Maybe he could just rest his feet a few minutes and then he'd start again, yeah, that was it. |

She’d been watching him for a few minutes now, happening upon him by chance and only staying out of curiosity as the boy grouped leaves together and hopped from place to place in search of something. Bell was intrigued – surely this must be one of her older brothers she hadn’t met yet, and he must be conjuring something up, planning some sort of great experiment that would go down in the annals of this land’s history!
And she would be witness to it! Glory, glory—! … until he plopped down, exhausted, onto said collection of leaves. Bell waited with bated breath. She was watching genius at work, she was sure of it, she only need be patient—! … until she couldn’t hold her breath any longer and exhaled loud and clear through her nose. Damn it, what was he doing? This wasn’t genius at all. This was BORING. “Hey!” She yipped, pouncing from her hiding place behind a rotted log to nip at her “brother’s” face as he laid there like a defeated pack mule. “What was that about! Get up! You’re working on something super cool and super secret, right? Why else would you hide out here? Tell me, tell me! Look, I’ll help.” She moved around his body, shuffling the wet leaves away and forming her own small mound at her paws. “You’re one of my brothers, right? No mistaking those colors of yours. I’m Bellamy! You better remember it. So, what’s the plan? What do we do with these leaves?!” |

"Ah!" No, nope, do not want random wolves jumping out and the nipping?! "Hey!" Genim would respond by first wiping at his face with a paw (ewww!) before reaching out to nip back in retaliation, "What was that for?" And if that wasn't enough the talking started, giving Gem the idea that someone had been watching him work and he wasn't really sure if that was okay or not - he'd have to think about it later. If he remembered anyway. "I needed a break that's all!"
Super cool, well obviously because it was his idea after all, but instead of preening the boy would tuck into himself and mumble out, "I don't know if it'll be that cool really..." The enthusiasm was kind of infectious though, and his lips would pull into a small grin as he clambered back to his paws, "But," he'd stretch out the word dramatically, "I want to make a picture for my family. I thought I'd get a nice leaf and find some stuff to make colors and try to...make a picture," he'd finish rather lamely. "I'm Genim!" And hey, whoa, hold on there - brother?! "Uh," for a moment the boy would just stare and blink dumbly at Bellamy; did Mom manage to have more kids and he never noticed? What, no, that would be crazy...right? Totally, after all he'd have to have noticed something like that...at least he hoped so anyway. "I don't really think you're my sister, I know my siblings but I've never heard of you before." Oh man, what if it was true though? No, nope, Genim would shake his head sure he was right. With a confused expression and shrug he'd offer, "We might still be related somehow though?" Leaves! Good idea, go back to something that makes sense without making his poor head hurt. "We have to find the best ones," shuffling through his pile Nim would separate out a few of what he considered the best options, "then make sure they're dry enough and go find some stuff to make the colors with." |

Ahote was out and about.
Well; what else would he be doing--building a ship? ...Actually--no. He wouldn't know where to begin, and he feared what might happen if he was caught hauling around vast quantities of wood. They might think he was trying to burn the whole place down this time.... So, for the moment at least, he was stuck lingering about with the wolves, wandering around the territory and trying to figure out the best places to shelter, forage, hunt, all that good survival stuff. At that time, however, he wasn't trying to survive. It was a pleasant, if chilly, day, and Ahote strolled casually under the trees of the highlands, a string of hollow wooden sticks clattering almost like wind chimes against his chest and waist. He had plenty of time to spare, plenty of time to whittle away crafting trinkets, picking his banjo, or what-have-you. After the decoration he'd carved and then donned, he was now out to walk around, observing the woods in a casual search for any, er...secrets, he supposed. And there was one now. Ahote paused at the sight of two very young wolves--just pups, in fact--tumbling through the grass. He cast his gaze around, noting how there seemed to be none of the bigger adults around, which seemed a strange thing for the age these two appeared to be. Was it normal for wolf parents to let their children so far out of sight? Standing still, he found this might be the perfect opportunity to practice his wolfspeak. He listened closely to the pups' squeaky fast-paced yipping, trying to pick out any words he knew. Watching them tussle with leaves, he would be lost in a thought for a while before realizing he was standing out in the open, and that at any second the pups were likely to spot him, if they hadn't already. They might cry out bloody murder at the sight of a human standing so close. "Uh," Ahote said, clearing his throat, taking a moment to get it ready for the low rumblings he'd have to make in an attempt to communicate. His attempt, however, came out broken, rough, and slow, to the point where it could easily sound menacing--either that or make him sound dumb as bricks. "Lost? Help? Wolf meal?" He was reaching into one of the folds in the clothes on his person, where some strips of leftover hare jerky had been hidden; he had no idea why the wolves were biting at leaves, but he assumed they must be hungry. |

ooc: I’m crying I love Ahote and Genim!!! Thank you guys for letting me revive this I promise I won’t kill it off again : sob :
She moved around him, as he fumbled and grinned and introduced, and even when he emphasized that no, no, they were not brother and sister at all, he would know, Bell cocked her head left and right. He was wearing their colors. He had their eyes.
An … impostor?!?! How could she have been duped! She WILL get to the bottom of this!
“Who’re your –” mom and dad, she had wanted to ask, before the crunching of leaves – well, there goes the kid’s little arts ‘n’ crafts project – interrupted them both, and she whirled around, baby teeth already exposed and legs already backing far away from whatever the FUCK THAT WAS OH GOD?? –
It … it said words, guttural though they were, but even through her growling she had heard him as if crystal clear. Lost. Help.
Wolf meal?
When it reached into its coat and pulled out dried bits of meat, she’d glance back at Genim, again at Ahote, back at Genim – and, just this once, would defer to her elders … and scattered and hid behind her cousin, letting him take the lead.
“D-d-d-don’t worry, I’m r-r-right behind you, if i-it tries anything, I’ll b-b-b-bite its face so hard.”
Now, don’t you feel better with that vote of confidence, Genim?
