The air was brisk and cool as he made his usual patrol of the borders but today rather than making multiple circuits in a row as he normally would he decided he would attempt to find some of the individuals he had accepted previously and check in on them and how they were fairing. They were his responsibility after all both as the Sentry to accept them but also as a Page so he began sifting through scents as he ventured through the more interior parts of Inaria's lands searching for any of their scents so he could follow them to their source. It was taking a bit longer than he would have liked though. Not because he was incapable of tracking but because there were inevitably things he noticed as he progressed that required further attention. Normally he would not have minded the myriad of opportunities to gather information that were being presented to him but as they were interfering with his goal of what he had wanted to achieve, or to have already achieved at this point, he found them somewhat tedious. They were still necessary though, that and he would likely be able to appreciate the intricate details of his observations later after his goal was accomplished, so he paid careful attention to each situation he came upon.
He had just finished with one and was once again moving in pursuit of a familiar scent when a different scent caught his attention and he shifted his attention to it, thinking, contemplating and assessing. There were so many options, so many choices and so many possible scenarios. There were so many different paths and ways for things to go hopefully things would play out in a way that was at least tolerable, but he would be aiming for something better than merely tolerable that way if there were any hitches the outcome would hopefully not be disastrous and if everything went according to logic it shouldn't be..but then not everyone was logical. Even he wasn't entirely logical all the time as that would be illogical in and of itself. Life was such a curious, complex thing with individuals who were even more complex which could make things rather challenging but it also made things rather interesting. Such were his musings until.... |

The young male was trotting happily through the woods, tail wagging above him. It was a good day today, and nothing was going to stop him from enjoying it! Orange eyes glanced up, taking in the sun peeking through the trees, and the wind blowing more at his level as he walked through the paths well known to most Inarians.
There had been a lot happening lately in Inaria, and today he was mostly taking to himself. Maybe it was something he had inherited from his mother. "Ha, good ole' Mom," he chuckled to himself, Gin's voice deeper now that he was a little older. The male had remained close to his mother, though lately even he had not seen her much. Perhaps it was time for a visit to Moons. Later. For now his attention was grabbed by a butterfly fluttering by him. He did always have a thing for bugs, and now was no different. How long had it been since he chased a bug? Too long, if you ask him! "Hey, come back here!" he called to the fleeing bug (why was it they always knew when he was after them??). Picking up the pace Gin pursued the critter, his gaze upwards towards the sky. His paws deftly picked their way around the path he was on, familiar with his home territory. Looks like all those lessons in knowing the territory from Mom paid off! Sudden movement in his peripheral made him shift though, and jump to the side. "Woah, hey Aeolus!" Gin exclaimed, realizing he had almost bumped into the Page. He laughed at his own mistake, but then smiled apologetically. "Sorry about that! Was a little distracted. Whatcha up to?" he asked his fellow Page, tilting his head slightly in a mimic of his own mother. |

He watched the enthusiastic Gin grow closer and closer seemingly watching the sky rather than the collision course he happened to be on. Aeolus considered calling out to him, it was an option of course, but instead he opted to shift himself out of the way. It was a simple but no less effective solution though his movement seemed to have caught young Gin's attention as he swerved as well but in the opposite direction. There was now a comfortable space between them as Gin exclaimed a greeting to which he nodded as both acknowledgement and reply as then with what one might consider a sheepish laugh the youth apologized for the close call and admitted to what he had already surmised, that Gin had been distracted. There was also a curious query as to what he was doing which the younger male accompanied with a slight head tilt similar to the Marchioness. An interesting detail he made quiet note of before beginning a bit formally. "Gin". He dipped his head as he said it despite the earlier nod. "No harm done". He gave as answer to the apology. Then.."I was searching for some of the individuals I accepted to check up on them". He stated as answer to the question he'd been posed though his words were chosen carefully and with reason as he had wished to check up, especially on one of the individuals, due to lingering concerns and nagging doubts.
"The search has not gone quite as I had hoped". His day had been rather filled which of course was the cause of many of the scenarios he'd been contemplating and was now presented with. Gin was younger than himself yet he had also held the rank longer, at least as far as Inaria went, and it was Gin who had recruited him to be a Page making Gin, as far as he was concerned, a suitable candidate to inform of some of the tediums of the day. "There is a tree near one of the common paths that is leaning considerably. The ground there is soft and damp and there are mushrooms of some sort growing around its roots which are now visible". The now being used as an indication to a fellow appreciator of words that this had not always been the case with the tree and was a new development and a concerning one. If the tree were to fall at the wrong time it could injure or even kill any one unfortunate to be passing that way and as it was on one of the common paths there was equal opportunity for anyone and everyone within the pack who utilized the common trails to fall victim to the rather large tree. "I also discovered the body of a young deer laying in a small creek nearby. It did not appear to have died due to attack but I am regrettably not knowledgeable enough of plants to know if the mushrooms are toxic and if that might have caused the deer's demise or if it was something else. It needs to be reported and more properly assessed of course but I do not wish to cause any undue concern in the general populace and the Medic and others who have need of the information have been rather busy today according to their scent trails which have not lined up in such a fashion as to allow a more quiet audience in which I could inform them in regards to these situations". Which really did need someone other than him to look at because he could make assessments and several of them but there were others whose input was also required before a decision was made and it was those individuals he needed to be able to inform or..that someone needed to inform. Gin's help in the matter was a possibility though in accomplishing the goal of a quiet relay of information to those whom it was a necessity to inform. "Perhaps if you are not otherwise occupied you could assist in informing the proper parties of the situation?". He inquired though he had not forgotten the youth's admission to being distracted and if it was an important distraction he would simply continue his work of trying to locate all whom he needed to locate as well as those he wished to locate. If the younger had need of him though, also a possibility, then.."Or if you require assistance with anything I will aide you as I can". Just in case the youth was distracted by an important task that might benefit from the thoughts and ideas of another..one never knew after all. |
