He had left his lands for the first time in what felt like forever. Yibio, the raven, knew he had gone out, but he didn't say for how long he would be gone. Maybe a few hours. Maybe the whole day. Maybe even a week...or perhaps longer. Did it even matter? Zephis knew he wouldn't be missed anyway. So with that in mind, he headed southward until he reached the banks of the huge river that cut through the lands.
The summer sun beat down on his back as he walked along the banks, head low and ears folded back. It was clear he wasn't in a good mood, but in all honesty, he wasn't quite sure what to feel anymore...
He jumped over onto the new lands known as Young Bloods. The smell of fresh pine and damp leaves filled his nose. He inhaled, and with this he seemed to calm down. Zephis’s mind clread and became an empty void. His tongue rolled out of he’s mouth as he lapped up the cold water from the river before he went walking into the new lands.

Further west he went until the lands appeared to get drier and drier. Zephis moved under the cover of night today after he had learned how hot the western lands got during the summer. He flicked his ears as he heard the distant and low rumble of thunder in the far off distance, but he doubted it would reach this far west. Paws kissed the dusty ground, sending little puffs of dirt and dust up around his feet as Zephis walked. The bundle of herbs he had carried with him since the lake were held gently and securely in his jaws, determined to bring them back home if he didn't spitthem all out before then. Tonight, however, he was looking for something a little more...rare. .Devil’s Claw.
It was used in fevers and he knew someone who need this herb.. He was a healer, yes. Well, a healer in training.  But poisons were more his thing and zephis hadn't been very successful finding it near the lake, he found yarrow there.. Since the plains seemed rich in herbs already, he figured he might as well try and find it on this side of the land bridge and hopefully get lucky. With the light of the moon, he began his search. The wolf moving carefully across the dry, cracked grounds.
Another day of monotony was upon him but Zephis was determined to somehow break through the boredom and enjoy himself. He'd already eaten, and chased off a mangy looking feline that was about half his height but ten times more easily perturbed. The cat was trying to steal his yarrow, and he didn’t allow that.Sporting some pretty good scratches across the right side of his face and a few more down his right shoulder and front leg, he was debating who to seek out to get this tended to while also trying to figure out some kind of adventure to go on.

Settling in the center of the tree trunk, Zephis huffed and licked carefully at the still bleeding welts on his leg. Note to self: Maybe be a bit smarter about how to start a fight with a cat. Also, he should probably learn how to treat his own scratches so he didn't have to pester anyone or risk infection.

With a hare clamped firmly between her jaws Wishingwind lit out across the grassland as if her tail was on fire. Somewhere far behind her was a very angry group of cats She could no longer hear them hissing and spatting, which was a good sign. Perhaps they’d finally given up. The thought gave her no small amount of pleasure. She'd learned many things in her short life. The depth of depravity, for example. From the moment they’d approached her, Ferrous had known something was amis. She knew how to play and that made her difficult to play. Instinctively she knew when someone was trying to manipulate her.

Very quickly she guessed at motives. The first cat tried to lure her in with kind words and the promise of a meal. Unfortunately for him, Wishingwind  knew his type and had seen him coming from a mile away. She'd ever so naively wandered into his trap and then promptly made off with the lure. Heh.

The pine wall. A big wall made up of pines and branches, too tall to jump and too solid-looking to try digging under, briefly stalled her getaway. Wishingwind  eyed it angrily and let a frustrated growl escape her lips. She ran several yards in one direction before stopping to stand up against the wall. Even on the tips of her toes she couldn't reach the lip of it.

With a grumpy huff she dropped back to all fours and then continued running along the wall as fast as her legs could carry her. Sooner or later it had to end or break down, right?

MONSTERS OF THE NIGHT
Chapter One
Morbus

Black blood lays splattered against the snow.

It is almost impossible not to notice. The smell that it emits is worse, driving away the prey from the heart of the pack. Weirdly enough, there are no footprints - but the falling snow has been heavy lately, perhaps the tracks have been covered up during the night?

Throughout the pack, some corpses of prey animals lay mutilated and dismembered. The weird coloured blood is found on them, though they show no signs of being eaten.

Is something leaving it as a warning, perhaps?

MONSTERS OF THE NIGHT
Chapter One
Morbus

One day, all of the inhabitants of the forest seemed to have just...disappeared.

Perhaps it is the smell that hangs throughout the woods, worse in some places than others. Has a plague descended on the All-Mother’s land? It is what the crows seem to chant, arriving in Hiraeth in flocks of hundreds.

Silver blood lays in pools among the fields of flowers. The flowers themselves seem to be dying, withering away. With each passing day, more blood appears and in other parts of the territory. The only place that seems to provide safety from the smell is the area around the statue of the All-Mother herself. Perhaps she is trying to stop all of this?

But nothing lasts forever, as each night the blood appears closer and closer to her.

MONSTERS OF THE NIGHT
Chapter One
Morbus

Within the depths of the Abyss, something stirs.

It’s cries may be ignored at first - just another prisoner agonized by their situation. Perhaps they’re resorting to the toxic pool that resides within the cavern. It’s a normal thing for Tortuga, nothing to be concerned about.

That is, until one night the screams can be heard further north, near the bonfire pit where the festivals are held. There is black blood all around the bonfire, but no sight of what has left it. It smells foul, unnatural, and seems to drive away the prey.

Those who reside in the south of Tortuga can not escape this; for the blood is scattered all over the southern isle, and the smell is repulsive and inescapable.

The Abyss is practically inhabitable. More worryingly, the black blood seems to drip down from the trees.

Whatever it is, it is capable of moving through the treetops.

MONSTERS OF THE NIGHT
Chapter One
Morbus

One night, Mother Moon seems to scream.

Those that believed in her may think so, but there is no denying the horrifying cries that echo throughout the nights. Those that look to the sky find nothing but their Lunar Goddess glimmering high above them.

(The stars though, they seem to have all disappeared).

Maybe the stars are falling, some may claim, as a snow white substance seems to rain from the sky in some places. It nearly glows in the moonlight, making it easy to spot within the forests and among the meadows. Everything about it is wrong, particularly the smell it’s left behind throughout all of Nardir.

Within the Shenandoah Meadowlands, various body pieces of small prey animals have been scattered around. Legs have been torn off of hares and other small mammals and just abandoned with no real pattern. The rest of the carcasses are found mutilated and torn to shreds.

One thing is for certain; the creature that is doing this is not eating the animals that it kills.

MONSTERS OF THE NIGHT
Chapter One
Morbus

One day, the ocean started washing up corpses.

They were small at first, dead crustaceans and bivalves appearing but inevitably being covered by the sand. But as each night passed, it got worse. The corpses got larger and larger, dolphins and sharks, creatures that the inhabitants of Gemini had probably never even seen before.

Today, a dead whale appears on the beach.

It’s already rotting away, but weirdly enough it does not seem to be the cause of the smell that has been lingering over the grasslands since this strangeness has been occuring. A black, inky substance is found in small puddles along the beach, some of it on the massive carcass itself.

One thing is for certain: it seems to be moving east.

MONSTERS OF THE NIGHT
Chapter One
Morbus

It seemed to originate from the north.

From the war-torn remains of Alteron’s northern territory, a stench emerges. It is foul, reminiscent of the previous fresh corpses that had rotted there. It isnt long before the smell creeps throughout the entirety of the forest, particularly terrible near any body of water. Though all origins point to the charred battlefield of a war that can not be forgotten.

(Is it disease, perhaps? Have the wolves of Oukoku-Kai returned to torment this old empire further?)

Prey seems harder to come by, and carrion crows seem to have flocked to the packlands, cawing loudly throughout the days. Those investigating will find a silver-coloured substance splattered on the trees, minimal at first.

But those going north will find a large pooling of the blood in the centre of the battlefield.

A trail of it seems to travel south-east...
