The sweet surrender of silence forces me to live alone
Locked and loaded, where the hell is peace of mind? I wait on you inside the bottom of the deep blue sea I wait on you inside the bottom of the deep blue "speech" | thoughts
Mako limped away from the others, his ribs throbbing with every step. He was in a bad position right now and the unnamed monster that lurked within him was beginning to peek out from it's cave. It whispered into the boy's ears that Tortuga was doomed. The outsider was going to gather his people against him and take over, maybe even join his people with the Saborans. It made him paranoid and he had the thought that he needed to form his own band of loyals. Get the jump on the outsider. The first one to seek out was Cider. The Cutlass was the only one he trusted with his medical care, but even that was tinged with paranoia. He didn't know her personally but if she was good enough that his family had allowed her to be head healer, then he had to trust their judgement. It wasn't too hard to find her, but he needed to be a little further away from the others before he would be comfortable speaking with her. "Cider," he began, "I need ta speak with ya in private." Mako didn't pause, he continued to walk on, his one good eye scanning the surroundings to ensure he wasn't being watched. When they were far enough away from the others, the sounds of the pyre and those that decided to drink fading into white noise, he turned to speak with her. "I'm goin' ta level with ya, Cutlass. I don' like this. I don' like tha' there's an outsider in the place of Captain, but I see little other choice. She knows I'm too young ta be taken seriously and she knows I'm injured from the storm. I need someone strong ta help me and she... well, I have a gut feeling that she was in a position of authority in her last home. If we could form an alliance with 'em it could create a strong bond, but I don' trust her. I need ta know where your loyalties lie," he said, eyes narrowing as he watched her reaction. There was only so much about their new Captain that he was able to talk to her about. But she didn't have to know that. "Stick with me now, and ye can ask a favor of me later. Also... I have plans in mind... and I might need ye for it." |
