ooc: rip, feel free to jump in whenever you want, if you even want to!
Day had come to a close, and the moon was making its grand appearance as the sun slid behind the horizon for another night. The stars would slowly begin to poke through the darkening canvas of the sky, no clouds present to block their view, though they were beginning to roll in. The temperature had dropped considerably, but Harriette not feeling the effects of the cold this evening, even as she stood on the cliffs above the rocky waters, her fur beginning to dampen from the spray. She stared out across the water, her heart feeling particularly heavy today, for no real reason. She sat, tail wrapped neatly around her legs. Normally she’d see her brother around here, but maybe tonight he was off doing something… Else. But she hadn’t seen him for a while now, and she missed him. She usually saw her family here or there. She had just seen Archer not long ago, and actually stuck around to spend some time with him for once. It was nice. She wished she had the chance to do that with all of her siblings. But everyone was growing up and had busier lives. Even… Families of their own. Harriette sighed softly and peered out across the waters as the sky grew darker and darker, the moon seeming to get brighter, as if trying to scare away the clouds. It didn’t seem to be working, however, and it looked like they were in for a starless night after all. The wind gusted for a moment and Harriette found herself succumbed by a deep chill. “Harriette…” whispered a voice, floating with the wind. Ears perking, she spun her head left then right. “Hello?” She called out softly, her heartbeat picking up pace. “… Kariya?” She tried, though she felt hopeless. The voice whispered at her again, and Harriette turned her head again, feeling as though the voice was coming from … The water? She raised to her paws and stepped closer to the ledge, slowly peering over the edge. “K… Kariya…?” Water crashed loudly against the base of the cliff, splashing off of the rocks that jutted out sharply. A shiver ran down her spine and Harriette shook her head. No… No, no. Her mind was playing tricks on her again. Kariya was … Busy. He was probably gone to bed already. He wasn’t here tonight. It was just her, she was alone. Unmoved, she continued to stare down the edge of the cliff, noticing for the first time how steep of a drop it was, and how scary the bottom looked. Perhaps it was the darkness, or perhaps it was the way the pale moonlight glared off of the wet surface of the rocks, making them look all the more dreadful. The moonlight was quickly swallowed by the clouds and the rocks below softened, their sharp angles no longer accentuated by the light, but she knew those sharp angles still existed. She knew if she were to fall … … If she were to fall … |
