song inspo
She sees the future in mysterious ways.
She started talking backwards, but nothing good it brings her.
So next time that she sees him; it'll be peace sign, middle finger.

There was constant reasoning behind all of this, that's what you're supposed to tell yourself anyway. That your mom ain't as fucked up as people really say, that she didn't try to kill your siblings and your uncle. That she's still here, and that despite everything that's your mother and you have to love her unconditionally, just like she does for you. If only things were so easy to sweep under the rug. Cause let's be honest that's what it's really all about right? They wanna sweep what happened up and away, and we're not gonna talk about my mom, cause that's just too painful. Fuck the kids that it hurts in the process, they don't matter right? If that's coping, then coping can go fuck itself.

Leaving Saboro was supposed to be a turning point for the better, he remembered how broken she was. How she was screaming and crying, that's when dad had died. No one but her mourned him, he didn't like talking about it. So Kaolin skirted it entirely, buried that seed way deep inside his heart to let that bitterness flourish and grow, what was the point of a machine that only took and served no purpose other than just that. Ma left that place because they finally broke her, and Saboro's last hoorah was to leave her children with their broken mother. She was in so many pieces, there was no putting her back together.

Gemini was the in between, and maybe it was bad of him to blame this place for what had happened at the borders. Who was to blame really? But there was still that feeling of resentment that boiled within him. Rolling onto his back he'd look up at the overcast sky, a frown pulling his lips downward into a disgusted scowl. "Ya know, it's dumb.. but you can't stop thinkin about it, can ya?" He growled to himself, snorting a hefty breath of air through flared nostrils. "Go  back to Saboro and show them what's what. Pay'em back." It was a dumb and unsupported thought, his mother would have rung his neck if she heard it. Just like Khanda's.

I'll set fire to the whole place
I don't even care about our house
It's not the same in here since he left anyways
Burn it down, burn it down, burn it down, burn it down

grandma my hands have wandered
and my legs, my little legs are getting weak
Did they think of her?

Did they remember her like she remembered them? Did they miss her like she missed them? Were they looking for her? Searching? Scrounging? Scouring the fire-singed lands in search of their missing princess?

Questions like these gripped the teenager's heart like a vice and squeezed. She could feel her burned paw tingling, the scarred over flesh going numb quite often since it'd happened. Every now and then she'd have a tender flare up. A lot of the time she'd sit at waters edge, her paw dangling just in the water and trying to put out the fires in her memory. The fear. The separation. The sadness.

She tried to remember her childhood. She tried so hard to focus on that and rekindle it. When her, Kol, and Akki played and were chased by bees. When she frolicked in the poppies. Her mom, her dad, her siblings. The moment a smile crossed her lips the photographs lit up in flames, turning ash and being swept away in a wind. The crackling flames were all that took over.

That's how it worked, huh?

She'd held resentment towards Kol Nidre for awhile. She'd noticed him trying to take over the role of her parents-- and no matter how much she loved Kol and Akki, they were siblings to her. They would never be Sol Katti, nor Coven, no matter how many horror stories she would hear. Those were not her parents. Not the parents that Beli had ever known. They were different people.

She had drifted off again, silly her, while she walked towards nothing in particular. Her mind snapped in when she heard a voice, her body stiffening with unfamiliarity. Thoughts swarming to the time in unfamiliar land, while her friends hid from the "evil" of Saboro. Be quiet, hush, hush.

"Ya know, it's dumb.. but you can't stop thinkin about it, can ya? Go  back to Saboro and show them what's what. Pay'em back."

Saboro? She didn't recognize this boy, not in particular. She didn't remember a lot of people honestly, though, so it wasn't unusual. She watched him for a moment, and noticed how angry he seemed. He was angry too? She wondered how different his situation was from hers.

She stepped forward, closer, but not too close. She didn't sit, but kept her red eyes on him and stood still, her weight shifting off of her burned front paw and onto the others. "Show who what's what? Pay who back for what?" she asked, her tone curiously wary, "What's back in Saboro for you?"

As far as she knew, nobody here wanted to go back there. It was even a tough thought for her.

But you're just another bitter kid in this world, ain't ya? That boiled within him, a familiar feeling, a sinking feeling. One that sickened and dizzied him, one that cursed and laughed at him. This world was fucked, and he was just another victim to all it's fucked up playground games. Well? Kao didn't feel much like playing around anymore.

His family had always gotten the short end of things, apparently there was a time when things were good. His unc' would mention it in mad ramblings, but he had never been around to see them, the young male had felt he was more than owed that bit of happiness. There came a certain point, where you just begin to think that happiness is just a made up concept for people. He'd seen it maybe once in his life, when his mother tackled the ocean... when she laughed like a young girl and beside her he remembered how abysmally torn up his uncle was. What a steep difference.

Because her happiness didn't last, and neither did her freedom.

He burned, but a voice snapped him out of his deep thoughts and he blinked with vivid pink eyes until they settled upon a red eye'd girl. Show who what's what? Pay who back for what? What's back in Saboro for you? He stared at her considering answering her or not, knowing Luci would have probably walloped him for being rude... though knowing she'd be thinking the same. He didn't know her either, his knowledge of Coven and Sol Katti's brood was that there was numerous ones. He didn't know names or faces, just that there was kin existing. He'd roll back to his side, sneering slightly. "Someone's way overdue for a walloping, I'm just gonna return the favor." Burn it down, his heart would cry.

"The people who owe me and my family. I was thinking of paying them a lil visit. Set the record straight, we're not to be fucked with." He'd feel the hackles on his back begin to rise, and he'd take a deep breath to calm himself, old family habit after all. "Why do you care? What do you know about Saboro?" He'd raise a brow, his questions blunt and possibly offensive to poor Beli, though he was clueless to the possibility. "Did they hurt you too?" He'd motion to her paw, spying the gruesome looking wound and frowning at her. Was he gonna have to serve another knuckle sandwich for whoever burned Pinkie?

She watched his movements. He seemed, of course, strained. Hesitant. Maybe she should have, too, but she never had been. The princess had never had a reason to hesitate in her past. She had pranced and frolicked and played amongst the poppies with not a worry in the world. Though she had grown more, she still held on to some part of that ignorance. Ignorance of others. The land had been harsh, but to her, people were easier to approach.

"Someone's way overdue for a walloping, I'm just gonna return the favor."

A very slight brow raise, accompanied with the dantiest, smallest of head tilts to the right. She remained silent for now, but was inquisitive. A walloping. He must have been mad. Well, duh, of course he was mad. You didn't wallop people unless they did something bad, right?

"The people who owe me and my family. I was thinking of paying them a lil visit. Set the record straight, we're not to be fucked with."

"Something bad happened to your family, in Saboro?" she asked innocently, as if she was a child again. Another one? Another bad story around her home? She'd heard them from Kol Nidre, from Akki, from everyone-- but she still never saw it like that. It was all still home. It was fine, until the fire came.

"Why do you care? What do you know about Saboro? Did they hurt you too?"

She was almost taken aback, but then shook her head just a tad. She wouldn't expect him to know her, if she didn't know him. In fact, she honestly didn't know that many of Saboro's past residents. She'd spent too many times in the poppies, it'd seem. "Oh-- no.. no one hurt me... my parents were Sabor and Sabora." she stated, though this time definitely a bit more meekly as she shifted her paws. Statements like those were dangerous here, weren't they? She'd remembered Kol and Akki's children playing Sabor and how they'd potrayed the role. "I, miss my home. I didn't mean to leave. My uncles, they found me after the eruption," she would raise her burnt paw and point her eyes towards it, before looking back at him, "and, they lead me out..." maybe it was a mistake to just openly state she missed her home, "I didn't get to say bye." she would shut her mouth, then, that's enough. There was so much she could spill that she just needed to get off her chest but she didn't know this boy, and she didn't feel like it was wise. She'd said enough, maybe even too much. Maybe she would be labelled a traitor by the rest. She couldn't help it.

She couldn't help the homesick feeling that settled in the pit of her stomach.

Something bad happened to your family, in Saboro? Whatever past irritation that had been buzzing around his head like a large black horse fly, or perhaps like tiny little gnats looking for a nice eye, it had by now smoldered out. There was only smoke now, but with smoke you could still choke someone. "Yeah." His voice shaky and tired, like a two year old coming down from their tantrum. Large paws gripping the earth with strong claws, creating little grooves in the soil. For a moment he seemed so hyper focused on this, vivid eyes flickering like candle light. "They fucked my mom up, hurt her something awful. I wanna return that favor."

Finally he'd look up to meet the girl's red gaze, and his ears drew back a little, upper snaggle teeth protruding from behind black lips. He was surprised that she was still here, talking with him. She seemed the type that were too... sweet, maybe too new? There was definitely a newness about her, the way she asked her questions, though the marring scars on her paws seemed to bring her back down to earth.  Weird, he'd finally sit up a bit as he scratched at the side of his neck with his back foot. Oh-- no.. no one hurt me... my parents were Sabor and Sabora. WHAT THE HECK AND FUCK? He kicked himself straight in the jaw and slipped while doing so, eyes wide and teeth clenched. "W-w-w-w-what?!" Came his stammering reply, the dragon's mouth had finally run dry. I, miss my home. I didn't mean to leave. My uncles, they found me after the eruption, and, they lead me out... He could feel the fur on his back attempting to bristle.

There was once upon a time where this would be a moment where family would be greeted by family, not blood related, but by a bond built on mutual trust and the same ideals of looking after ones kin. Not because you had to, but because you wanted to, because the love their was so strong. Now it was nothing but a bitter reminder of how some families were left fucked up and how taking care of each other became a mechanical job with transactions. The Sabor, his uncle, ma's brother used a lot of his family as gambits. "Do you have any fucking clue-" The heat was rising up the back of his neck and he could feel that anger and rage boiling in the pits of his stomach, but it all burnt out as quickly as it was beginning to form.

She probably did have an idea, bright eyes narrowed onto Beli's face, she was just like him. A victim of circumstance, and he couldn't just bash her parents... they were HER parent's after all. His ma and pa hadn't been the most pristine kind of people, they fucked a lot of people's lives up. Eyes clenched shut then and he'd exhale roughly. I didn't get to say bye. Ear twitched at this, eyes opening and head tilting slightly to the side. "I didn't either." To actual Pa, not his fucking grave, and to my real fucking MA, not whatever they have LOCKED in a fucking TREE.

"If you miss them so badly, your parents, that is. If you miss them, you should go and find them. Nothing's holding you here." An idea formed in a whirling storm, the gears turned silently behind Kaolin's bright eyes. "You're free, free to do whatever you want." Say goodbye or hello to whoever you want, and BURN whatever you want. "Freedom, can be scary though." He looked at her from down his snout, he had a feeling she was capable though.

"They fucked my mom up, hurt her something awful. I wanna return that favor."

She watched how he moved, how his body tensed and anguished. Her gaze was soft and her lips drooped, a small head tilt was all she replied with. She wasn't sure if a 'Sorry' or a 'Revenge solves nothing' would help or even be heard, and maybe it was best to just not say anything at all. His gaze met her blood red eyes and sharp white fangs revealed from a saddened shroud. Beli took a step back, her ears pinned backwards and head pulled back towards the air as well. Some sort of visible flinch, maybe, but her eyes never broke contact with his. She wondered if asking him had been the wrong thing, maybe she'd provoked him, maybe-- oh, nevermind, he was just scratching himself. Her own body relaxed, and she let out a small sigh, finally giving herself a moment to blink. Only to hear some sort of clutter, and a fumble. She returned her gaze to him quickly.

"W-w-w-w-what?!"

Oh boy. That wasn't good, was it? She shouldn't have said anything, should she? She shouldn't have even engaged him after he told her what was wrong. She was a product of the 'Evil' of Saboro and even being near him was disrespectful, wasn't it? She could feel, no, almost see hatred and anger boiling in his blood and rising to the ends of his hackles. She stepped back again, hesitant, scared? Sad?

"Do you have any fucking clue-"

"No," she barked, almost an automated response out of need to diffuse the situation. "Sorry, I shouldn't have said anything. I should have left you alone. I don't know what any of it's like, so, I, Sorry." She fumbled awkwardly, her own problems suddenly shrunken and stamped. No, nobody had hurt her, or her family. She was the family that did that, wasn't she? She had been completely fine, and protected, and nothing bad had ever happened..... to her. Not to others, though, right? Not Akki or Kol Nidre or now this boy. They got shafted. The bubble wasn't there. There was nothing there to keep them safe and it was... A whole different world, wasn't it?

Stupid, stupid, stupid girl.

He was still angry. Her being here was just making it worse, wasn't it? She started to back away, so she could leave him be,

"I didn't either."

Oh.

She stopped, in silence, looking at the ground and her paw. It wasn't all just about her, was it? Her woes. She was throwing a fit because she didn't get to say bye to her 'Happy' life. Her sheltered life. She didn't know what he was referring to-- but from his rage, his hatred-- it was probably something far worse.

"If you miss them so badly, your parents, that is. If you miss them, you should go and find them. Nothing's holding you here. You're free, free to do whatever you want. Freedom, can be scary though."

His demeanor was suddenly different, but she didn't turn around. Her eyes still focused blurrily on her paws as her mind whirled almost every realization she'd just made into a fog. A fog her young mind was trying really hard to process. "Free?" she asked, silently, quietly. Wasn't she always free? Of course she had been. Free to do whatever she wanted with no consequences. Of course no one kept her here. She was never a prisoner. She had been a princess. "I don't even know how to get there, I don't even know if they know I'm gone." A hard reality. She had so many siblings, so many that stood out more then she did, became something. Oriana. She'd become Sabora. She'd risen above them all. What had Beli done?

Nothing, huh.

"I think being caged is probably scarier."
