Welcome to Nardir's new board!
To start off, I'd like to try to take some of the pressure off and hopefully ease any feelings of being overwhelmed by all the new stuff. I'm sure you've seen the custom boxes and tables people are starting to use to post now, and I know a bunch of you have started coding your own or commissioned someone for some especially fancy post code. And some of you have some super pretty post code, and I am very jealous. But! For those of you who are still iffy on all the colors and images and boxes, I don't want you to feel like you have to post only with a postcode. We'll never require any of that fancy coding; you will always be able to just post plain text roleplay posts. We are also adding a new rule, effective immediately: Roleplay posts must be separated by character. In the instance of roleplaying multiple characters in a single thread, you must make one post per character. We know that a bunch of people have multiple characters in Nardir, and we love that! And we know that, especially in group threads, it is a lot less effort to write all your characters into one post. But, a lot of times it can be difficult for the people you're roleplaying with to differentiate between your different characters' thoughts and actions without a clear barrier. The exception to this rule is when the additional character(s) aren't acting or providing any dialogue. For example, I may write a post for Puffin where I could use a sentence to note that Becrux is sitting quietly in the background. However if I want Becrux to speak or make an action (such as glaring at another character) I should make a second post for Becrux specifically. Separate and clearly defined roleplay posts can exist in the same reply post, if separated by a visual barrier. For example: Puffin
Puffin threw his full weight against his harness, claws digging deep into the snow. Within moments, his pace had quickened into a canter with his sled gliding behind him. "See?" he said, looking back at Becrux who sat stoically in the snow. "You could totally do this." -----
Becrux Becrux sniffed. It looked strange...but useful, even he had to admit. If even this small dog could pull a half-laden sled by himself, he wondered how much weight he could pull as a much larger wolf. "Do you even have a harness in my size?" he asked. If you have more than one character's roleplay post in a single reply post, you will also need to label whose posts are whose. You can do this by putting the character's name on top of the post, as I did in my example, or by having the name featured prominently in the visuals of the postcode (Alana and Julek's postcodes are good examples of this). SO, from now on, if there's a post we think could use a little more separation between the characters' actions, we will PM you letting you know how to best modify your post to suit this new requirement. Thank you for reading through all that! If you have any questions or concerns, or if anything here could be clarified better, feel free to post here or message any of the three of us! |
