Down Like Silver - Baskepts - October 07, 2019

- ♔ - Down by the river bend, with blood shot eyes and a shaky body; he rose to his feet. The silencing nostalgia of familiar sights and sounds and smells, though only his eyes seemed to work. Baskepts knew this droopy, damp, lethargic place. His home; his safe heaven, but nothing ever really changed in his eyes... it was just drenched, droopy and bog like. He snapped his closed and felt his chest tighten, his home... gone. All due to a month's worth of water gathering in the beaver dam a day's walk towards the sun. It was all gone... In a blink of an eye. His head drooped as he whispered.

"Ma...Fa. Im so sorry."

- ♔ - Oh, how he wished he could have known sooner; how he could have warned his parents. But you can't control rain, and you cannot control the dam. His paws kissed the ground as he quickened his pace. As much as he loved this place, he couldn't stand to see it like this. Like the warmth of a mother's voice beckoning its child away, he ran. Baskepts ran as hard an as fast as he could. The beast's slender legs beating the ground like a whip to a horse's rump. He felt the sickening pulse inside his skull as if a parasite laid a foundation into his brain and was eating away the gloppy organs. With no warning, Baskepts' legs stiffened and the beast fell onto the ground in an unconscious, cumbersome slumber.

RE: Down Like Silver - Halbred - March 08, 2020

((ooc: he does not have his orange markings yet. Just letting you know. XD))

The rays of the morning sun found the blue fring dire stretched out on a outcropped rock enjoying a second nap. Some called it lazy but what else was there to do in this forest? Hunt? He wasn't hungry and it was a pain trying to catch something that was literally running for its life. Go out and be social? Sure but he wasn't going to search this whole forest just to find one creature that was crazy enough to talk to him. I mean who wouldn't mess themselves when a large predator appeared before them? I mean besides predators of the same species! Like him trying to talk to a rabbit. Poor thing looked like it was going to die from fright but he had to say that its twitchy nose was adorable. Make something of himself? Hey he was awesome enough as is why overshoot and make others feel bad? At least he was the most welcoming individual he knew....unlike some certain creatures. *Cough* Badgers*Cough*

The train of thought continued on as he rolled onto his back with a grunt to warm his stomach only to hear a lot of bird calls from a tree close by and not the sweet song bird calls this was big and small crowding a tree and screeching at one another bird squalls. One of his baby blue eyes peeked open as he sneaked a look towards the rukus. One thing about fringe dires….they could understand and talk to some birds...and what do you know. Magpies and Vultures. Brilliant. His ear rotated towards their conversation and what he heard piqued his curiosity.

Apparently a flood had happened nearby and the carrion were looking forward to finding some...'food'...and the wolf felt a lump in his throat as he listened to their joyous chatter of this disaster. He hoped that the birds would end up getting a good case of karma upon arriving at their destination and find nothing but reality was harsh and Halbred knew this fact to be true but that didn't mean he wasn't going to hope for a better out come.

The fringe dire ended up leaving his spot as his mood was being dampened by their unholy happiness at others misfortunes. He had no place in mind he just wanted to get away from those stupid birds. Ugh! His attitude was shifting and he hated it which just ended up fouling his mood even more. Curse those stupid pea brained chatter boxes! Why! Why did they have to flock near him while he was trying to enjoy a good sun bath?! They couldn't find a different tree in this whole forest of TREES to land on for their talk?! NO, lets land here beside this fella who looks like he's enjoying his day and talk loudly about depressing shit! The loner stopped and closed his eyes for a moment as he took a deep breath. "Its okay Hal," he said to himself, "just ignore them and find a new spot to take our third nap," he half hummed as he tried to perk himself back up.

This trek ended up taking him to the middle of well...a bunch of trees. Who knew. The fringe dire contemplated on leaving upon finding no good sun rocks, or logs, in the area until he spotted something. Or rather someone. Their fur a mess and body lying lifeless on the forest floor. He felt his heart pounding in his ears when he spotted them at first but he decided to be bold and approach. "Hey," he whispered hoping that they would magically open their eyes and be on their merry way but he was met with silence, "Hey bud are you alright," he asked louder. He moved around to their face so that he could get a better look at them fear of the situation getting the better of him he ended up yelling loudly, "YO WAKE UP!"
