Border Terrain
The El Dorado territory rests beyond a mild saltwater channel which turns into a mangrove forest. Swelling tides and monsoon rains threaten to make this pass inaccessible at certain points of the year, most notably during late winter or early spring. During this time the currents and water levels are treacherous for all except those creatures specifically adapted to water living, or those who can simply fly above it all. During these times, pay attention to this thread to find out whether borders are open or closed.

MANGROVE BARRIER

Upon crossing this channel, visitors come upon a rich, thick mangrove barrier. While at first these twisted trees are firmly rooted in the waters, their roots entangling themselves below in submerged levels, the floor gradually rises to give way to murky, mossy soil. Here the forest continues, branches and roots sticking in all directions, winding around each other. This makes it particularly difficult for larger creatures to navigate without breaking through the trees themselves. Shoreline wildlife are abundant here, such as crocodiles, pelicans, and small monkeys.

CLIFFSIDE FALLS

A quarter mile through the mangroves, they give way to two series of cliffs that jut up from the boggy terrain. In certain regions this is where the rivers end in stunning waterfalls. For any land creature, this is where their journey seems to end, as there's no way to scale these drop-offs. And here is where they will meet the tribe's inhabitants if they seek entry. A select few points along these miles of cliff harbor cave openings. These caves lead to a series of maze-like tunnels that twist and wind deep within the rock, in pitch black. Without aid, those who venture inside are surely doomed to get lost in the darkness, or risk drowning when the tides rise and flood inside.

THE TENDRILS

After what seems to be a mile of traveling through wet, twisted, dark tunnels, visitors will emerge from the blackness to a rich, green jungle terrain. This is home to the Syn Cardrys culture, this is El Dorado. Ancient stone structures lie in ruin, blanketed by moss and vegetation, some crumbling and some still standing strong. Mountains deep in warm fogs curl in the distance, vines stretch from towering canopy to towering canopy, and it looms over every inhabitant ominously.

All species are accepted, though there is an inherent, cultural bias against non-Aviaris. This empire is Semi-Consent.

Border Etiquette
Please read up on the information above and our territory guide to make sure your threads acknowledge the tricky borders. You cannot assume your character found their way through the tunnels and infiltrated their sacred lands - to do so risks your character(s) being treated with No Consent.

There is a CLIFFSIDE prefix for roleplays that all visitors, friendly or foe, must use to make sure we know to tend to you appropriately.

The culture here is proud and prone to bias, so fear not if your character isn't greeted quite so warmly. The tribe has endured generations of isolation and may have mixed feelings about their borders being opened.

If you'd prefer to have your character auto-accepted instead of going through a traditional acceptance, PM Akante! Be sure to include your character's profile, and maybe an idea of how their acceptance may have gone - feel free to plan with existing ED members for this!

Feel free to either PM Akante, poke the Discord, or head on over to the spam bin if you've got any questions or concerns!
