A friend in need (Balder) - Kimster - February 25, 2019 Ok. Maffs? Check. Wind direction? Check. Height of branch? Check. Non-height of wolf? Check. Ready to launch in...uh. wait. The observer would see the small form of a blue wolfess staring intently at the tree in front of her. Her pale green orbs were fixed on a branch a few feet above the ground. She impatiently whooshed her fringe out of her eye, and wiggled her butt, frowning at the target. She'd heard, in passing, that the new pups will somehow have to be transported from the island to the castle. Now of course they could just wait for the tide to retreat, and have their mother and probably one of the healers carry them in their maws all along the hidden island, but Schimmah felt that's a silly waste of time. Why wait when they could use a basket? Like, a mega basket! A super basket! She'd been doodling the design in her head, and experimenting with different types of plants. Finally, after quite a few rough starts she'd settled on the bark of this particular tree. Only problem is that she'd kind of stripped the lower part of the trunk kinda bare. Problem number two is the branch she needs is a little high. Problem number three is the branch she needs is way high. Hm. Suddenly 'only' turned into a 'bunch' Uh. Maybe she should re-think this whole thing... She wrinkled her nose and resumed her crouch. Nu-uh. Puppies needed her to make something, and make it she will! With a mighty roar she leapt upwards. For a brief moment she felt like she could fly - the wind in her fur, her paws weightless, the branch getting closer - closer - closer! And then her teeth snapped shut on empty air and she fell back to earth, jealous gravity reasserting her wish. Flat on her back, her breath knocked out, Schimmah lay there and thought rather unkind things at the branch. RE: A friend in need (Balder) - Balder - March 07, 2019 Speech:#99cc66
Balder was on a mission. He was going to do his best to acclimate to life within Nardir by any means necessary. The hell-bear, still shy and introverted, had made it a self serving promise to himself to try and be more outgoing. He needed to show that he not only loved it here, but that he wasn't some big scaredy cat that he'd already so beautifully put it in front of other members. He would force himself out of his shell come hell or high water. So he set off with a spring in his step and his head held high, hoping that he would find some way to prove to everyone (mostly himself) that he was worth the risk of being brought in. That he was actually helpful, despite his inability to fight or be menacing. Of course, theory was always better than application. The bear noticed along his walk a tiny blue creature some yards off staring up at a tree. The once mighty hell-bear, with a confident gait and head held high now found himself cowering back and pausing mid stride to watch the creature take note of the tree before attempting to leap up and fail at missing it's target. Balder could feel his heart beating in his chest as anxiety and his fight or flight instinct kicking in. Who was this? Why were they able to jump as high as they had? Were they a friend or foe? Yet he couldn't help but feel his large head rising as the smaller creature took a good try at the branch, only to land flat on their back. His large ears perked, nose sniffing the air as he tried to figure out what in the world was going on. When the small blue creature didn't get up, however, the hell bear found himself plodding rather quickly to it's side. He didn't say anything as he boomed his way up to her, his head low, mane dragging against the dirt as he sniffed the top of her head before recoiling back quickly. She was still alive and she was actively staring up at the tree. Oh no. He'd bothered her-- oh no she would be upset, or worse. The bear gave a low whining grunt as he shuffled back before laying down on his belly and watching her, his ears pinned to the back of his head. So much for going in with confidence. RE: A friend in need (Balder) - Kimster - March 13, 2019 uuughhh it HURT! Schimmah lay on her back, still staring at the branch and feeling quite sorry for herself. The force of her reunion with mother earth had left her bruised and battered. And her ego very much hurt. And now it was shaking. Wait.. shaking? She frowned and concentrated - no this was more like the vibrations caused by some giant thing walking. Towards. Her. Pale green eyes widened as she froze, listening with mounting trepidation at the booming steps approaching, each loud thud tolling her doom until it stopped. Her orbs swivelled to the side as a shadow engulfed her. The monster casting the shadow eclipsed her view of the branch and everything around - it was gigantic! It's hot breath puffed at her and a nose bigger than her paw sniffed her head! She opened her mouth wide in horror and tried to scream but no sound came out, her vocal chords utterly unable to comply in the grip of terror. So she shut her eyes tightly and curled up into a ball, waiting for those massive teeth to chomp into her, crunching her up in two bites before gulping her down that throat and into it's belly. Good bye, cruel world! I haven't been here long, but hopefully I'll be remembered! Um. Hold on. She slowly opened one eye, squinting around. She's - still alive? the other eye slowly opened. She could hear the beast's breathing a short distance away from her. Her paws trembling, she rolled her head in his direction, still squinting slightly. But what she saw made her fully open her eyes and stare in astonishment. This guy? He was huge. Ginormous. Like, a bear that smelled like a wolf. His mane was floofy and shaggy and full of, uh, flowers? He was scrunched down into a crouch, his ears pinned back as if he were unsure. Like he was ... afraid? Schimmah rolled her body to face his, still with her paws tucked tightly to her stomach so that she still looked like a blue puffball. Her ears were also pinned back, but curiosity was the driving force: "Um. You-ah...didn't eata me?" she whispered, her gaze more curious than her body language. "Um. You-ah...didn't eata me?" The large beast's ears perked as the little one spoke; tiny eyes wide as he watched her carefully. Balder would wait a moment before shaking his head furiously in the 'no' direction. But just as quickly as his head rose in response, it was back down in between his front limbs; body splayed out along the forest floor as he watched the smaller one with fear and curiosity. The sudden thought of another nearby wolf washed over him as he swung his head up and looked around for a brief second, his nose tilted up towards the air as if to smell out another being nearby. Yet when no other scents tickled his nose, his head swung back to face her. Boy this was all so new to him. So unsure of what protocol was in this situation; most bears he had known from his cubhood days were always falling and landing on their backs, only to roll up and try again. This wolf, however, was more interested in him than in their actual...mission, or whatever it was. The beast gave a small pause before belly crawling a few inches closer towards her. Again though, he'd pause and sniff the air in the wolf's direction before shifting a bit with his hind legs. "Hurt?" he would finally ask in a low, gruff tone, brows knitting as he narrowed his gaze to look at her. His tail would gently thump behind him as he pawed at the dirt in a false attempt to make it look like he was going to continue to inch closer, only to pull his limb back close to his body. He'd hoped she was all right, but he was entirely confused as to why she had bothered to try such a stunt in the first place. And if the night is burning

RE: A friend in need (Balder) - Kimster - March 14, 2019 She watched his massive bulk shift, the muscles rippling in an unsettling way. He swung his head to look around, then swung back down to between his forepaws. Now that she was calming down abit, something about his demeanor caught her attention. He was unsure. Shy, even. His gaze mimicked her own - fearful yet curious. And though he was a mountain of a hellbeast, he seemed soft. Like a fluffy boulder. She glanced down at his claws and revised her statement: a fluffy boulder that could snap her back like a twig. Now that she was really looking, he had the same calmness about him that Hakan and Adolph have. One of her ears perked forwards a little bit, and her paws stopped trembling. Suddenly he moved. She couldn't help it, her first reaction was to flinch. Nope, he still wasn't going to eat her. He'd only inched forward on his belly a little bit, like a, like a, worm. A gigantic, fluffy worm. he did it again, this time she didn't flinch. Instead the beginnings of a shy smile tugged at the corner of her maw. He pushed out a paw as if he wanted to move again, but retracted and stayed where he was. Schimmah uncurled from her tight, defensive ball, and copied his posture. "Hurt?" he asked, his voice so low and gruff the girl swore she could feel it rumbling through the earth and into her bones. Brr. Odd. She smiled and shook her head, replying: "Nah, justa little battered'nbruised." Schimmah crawled forwards on her belly, trying to do it the way he did, but looking a tad incongruous and silly. She figured maybe this was this creature's way of appearing non-threatening? he seemed quite nice, now that she wasn't scared stiff. Frankly she was curious why he looked at her like he was afraid of her? 'Cause how? She's teeny compared to him? She inched forwards a little more and was close enough now that should he reach forwards with his head their noses would touch. She'll admit that her heart was thumping in her chest - not really sure if he wanted to be friendly, but really really REALLY wanting to know? "Imma...I'm Schimmah." she said in a small, shy voice. |
