Woe is me - Caprice - January 19, 2019 Profile | Speaking
This. Was. Awful. A long, dramatic huff followed by a whimper as a small girl flopped her front half onto the ground. Shoulder down, butt up, and dragged herself in any direction. Grumbling along the way. She'd spot a tree, BINGO, and jump up to dash to it's trunk. Leaning her back against it, she'd begin to shimmy her shoulder blades and neck against it. Eyes squeezed shut in the moment of relief... but it was short lived as she flopped forward onto her belly. Utterly defeated and in terrible discomfort. Caprice was young, barely five months old at this point and no one had been there for her to help guide her through what it meant to grow feathers. What it meant to be a Fledgling, an Aviari dire, or apart of any society. There was no idea to what family she belonged to, or what happened to her parents aside from assumption they were lost to war. "Help." The small child sat by herself, pin feathers covering her body, and big tears in her eyes. Looking a wreck. click that help. I dare u. RE: Woe is me - Pulsar - January 20, 2019 As night turned into day, it was just about the time Pulsar was heading back into their den in order to jot down notes of the night's findings. Though, she figured while she was out here, she mind as well look for some interesting plants to house in her domain. As if she didn't have enough of those already with ivy snaking it's way around the room and dozens of little succulents growing out of the wall. Some of them had even bloomed already.
So many thoughts roamed around in her brain that she hardly noticed a small fledgling itching herself on a tree with little relief to be had from the newly feathers sprouting in. Not until a peep of help came from Caprice did Pulsar finally pause and notice she wasn't alone. Pink and indigo eyes blinked and she sniffed once loudly. The Opalite would turn and approach the kid, raising a brow. "What is it?" she asked, voice as deadpan as ever. "Help with what?" Eyes shifted from side to side as if looking for some mess to be had. Maybe a monkey was being obnoxious and bullying the poor kid? Head pulled up to the tree branches, but nothing. Then what? Pulsar looked back down at the kid, raising a brow and waiting for an answer. ✦ ✦ Speech Text ✦ ✦

Someone approached. Someone serious, unfamiliar, with interesting markings the young Fledgling had never seen before. On anyone, so she couldn't even place a family she might belong to. Not that she was all that educated at this age, but she knew the basics of it all. Lime eyes followed Pular's gaze to the treetops, to the sides, to the ground even. Curiously wondering what had been searched for, before returning to the feathery packmate with pretty eyes. "What is it? Help with what?" Swallowing back her tears she best she could, large green eyes glanced up to the adult. "I can't stop the itch. It hurts." Cappy muttered, lowering her head in a sad puppy shame, dozens of pins popping up as she hunched over. Big eyes peered up "What do you do... When yours hurt?" Voice quivered in discomfort as she eyed the full pretty feathers of on Pular's back, feeling impatient and irritated. Probably hungry at this point too, it had been a while since anyone had interacted with her or offered her food or to help teach her anything. RE: Woe is me - Pulsar - January 27, 2019 Pulsar sat down then, expecting the kid to cry again as their eyes threatened tears. She seemed to keep them at bay though as she admitted something hurt. The opalite tilted her head, wondering exactly what hurt, though the pup turned to expose quill pins and Pulsar immediately understood. She did not miss the days of having first grown her feathers, nor did she look forward to the days of molting and having to go through that experience again.
With a grimace, the opalite huffed a sigh. "I do nothing." she answered, glancing around again. It was sort of a lie, Pulsar would douse herself in aloe to keep the itching at bay and to soothe irritation. She had several plants housed in her home that grew along the stone walls. "Where are your parents?" she inquired, though was afraid to really ask as many had lost their parents in the war. "Or...whoever takes care of you." Either way, they weren't around. Caprice looked starved a little and the itching was bad enough. Rubbing on a tree caused far more irritation than necessary and probably contributed more to the itching especially if splinters occurred. Pulsar rubbed her temple for a mere seconds, trying to think of what to do. She wasn't a baby sitter, she was tempted to find a Dove, even if two of them were unbearable. Oh for fuck's sake. "Ugh, come with me." Grumbling, Pulsar would rise from her seat and continue back to her den. She was tired, she had been up all night of course studying the stars. There were notes to be written. Now that would have to wait as her little tag-along hopefully followed. Several minutes would pass before they finally arrived to Pulsar's domain. A space of wildly grown plants carpeted the area and trees, save for a pathway that was cut down the middle that entered a small stone ruin nearly invisible due to the thick coverage of ivy. She would follow the path until she entered the ruin, it was full of plants as well, a pot of different species of ivy ran up the wall and around as it was hung in various spots in the corners. Succulents blossomed from between the cobble, including the aloe vera. Crystals hung from the ceiling, creating rainbows in the pin-stripe sun that peeked through the cracks. "Don't touch anything, just sit down over there somewhere." the opalite demanded, waving her paw toward a nest of pelts and perhaps a small cloth blanket. Once Caprice settled down, Pulsar would get to work on the aloe. She plucked a juicy leaf from the wall, carefully cutting the end of it. Taking a plate, she would set the leaf up verticle so it leaned against the wall. She'd sigh, looking back at the pup. "It takes a while to prepare... otherwise it's poison." ✦ ✦ Speech Text ✦ ✦

"I do nothing." Cappy slumped is disappointment, feeling more distraught with the sudden news that there probably wasn't anything that could be done for all these pins. "Where are your parents? Or...whoever takes care of you." Biting her little lip back for a minute, head raised to peer up at the starry girl. "Dead." Muttered sadly, shoulders seemed to fall even more, her voice was clipped and matter-of-factly. The silence between them seemed to linger for ages, and the young kid stayed put on her butt waiting for Pular to either leave or say something else... Or maybe go find someone else to deal with a handful fledgling. "Ugh, come with me." Gaze followed her in surprise as the female began to wander off, Caprice quickly scrambling to her feet to follow behind closely. Foxy tail drifting behind her, held at an odd angle to try and avoid it hitting any of the trees and bushes. The less movement the less he skin could react to the pins... Thus a very stiff sore walk was produced. "Don't touch anything, just sit down over there somewhere." Hide eyes took it all in, the carpet of green, the wild trees, and the skinny pathway they two wandered down. When motioned to go sit herself down, her head followed the direction Pular motioned and she nodded as she moved toward the pelts. What were these? What were they for? Caprice cocked her head at the pelts, cautiously sniffing them to find that they smelled mostly of her host. Puzzled, she spun in a few tight circles before plopping down on the pelts, tucking her feet under her chest and watching Pular from her little loaf position. "It takes a while to prepare... otherwise it's poison." Was this lady trying to help her, or put her out of her misery? "What's that do?" Asked brightly, as a thick stem was cut away from a funny looking plant. "What makes it not poison? Do you have a Family? Do you have a name?" Maybe she should just knock the kid out... RE: Woe is me - Pulsar - February 09, 2019 The pup had followed her willingly enough, quiet until she plopped herself down on Pulsar's bed. The magpie had felt a little bad knowing the kid didn't have anyone, she was an orphan like most of them now, only she was a lot younger; still a fledgling. The opalite sighed slightly as she turned to tend to something else, pulling out a small book with paper and trying to jot down some notes she still had in her head. A book filled with stars and annotations.
Her thought was interrupted and Pulsar paused to look at the pup as a few questions arose. Pups were curious creatures, she knew that but she had hoped this one would just watch and stay quiet. How optimistic that was. "It's an Aloe plant. It'll help your itching." she stated, glancing back at her book. "In a few hours, the poison will drain out and I'll be able to use it.." The magpie doubted the kid would care about that sort of thing, many healers could do a far better job and probably had prepared aloe already, but again, she was tired and would rather not deal with anyone else this morn. "Pulsar." was given in an irritated tone. "I'm an Opalite. I have family, yes." Dual-toned eyes glanced back at Caprice and noted the red coloring of her. A Sanguine, of course. She was alone though, no one really taking care of her as she had just stated they were dead. Perhaps a bastard of some kind. Poor kid. Jotting down her thoughts quickly, Pulsar would shove the book aside and rearrange her desk area so she could make something to drink. Crystallines always did their tea thing, the Magpie sneaky enough to drag away a plant or two and tried it on her own. So far so good, but she doubted the kid would want any. Only one cup anyway... "Is there no one who takes care of you? None of the Doves? No one at all? You're a little young to hunt by yourself." Many were prejudiced against bastard children, though Pulsar didn't quite give two shits. Syn Cardrys had lost a lot of people, the lines couldn't exactly afford to flick dirt at anyone right now. Pulsar scoffed noting that two Crystallines were Doves. This child was better off alone. The Opalite didn't really want a child in her care, but ah, she wasn't heartless. She was better than those pompous idiots anyway. ✦ ✦ Speech Text ✦ ✦
